Nairn Golf Club
Standing on the first tee at Nairn, the Moray Firth stretches ahead of you, the gorse blazes gold, and the air carries that particular salt sharpness that signals proper links golf. Founded in 1887, the Championship Course has been shaped by some of the greatest names in the game's history — Old Tom Morris extended it westward over the Earl of Cawdor's land, then James Braid transformed it further, creating greens of singular subtlety and becoming the first man to break 70 here in 1901. A comprehensive renovation by Mackenzie & Ebert between 2018 and 2020 has future-proofed the layout without disturbing its essential character.
The routing is a classic out-and-back links, with the opening holes hugging the Moray Firth shoreline before turning inland through tight, gorse-lined fairways, pot bunkers and burns that demand precision and reward intelligent play. The course has hosted the Walker Cup, Curtis Cup, and both the men's and women's Amateur Championships — a testament to its quality and condition.
Nairn sits just 15 minutes from Inverness and is one of the most accessible championship links in Scotland. A superb anchor for any Highland golf itinerary, and a firm favourite among our clients.
