Royal Dublin Golf Club
On Dublin’s Bull Island, where the River Liffey meets the Irish Sea, lies Royal Dublin Golf Club – Ireland’s second-oldest club and one of its most storied links. Founded in 1885, it has hosted multiple Irish Opens and carries a heritage steeped in championship pedigree and tradition.
The course was remodelled in the 1920s by the legendary Harry Colt, whose routing created a classic out-and-back links. At over 7,200 yards, it demands precision rather than brute force: tight fairways, penal rough, and subtle green complexes that reward thoughtful strategy. The ever-present sea breeze ensures the test is never the same twice.
This is a place where history and atmosphere are inseparable. From the echoes of Christy O’Connor Senior, the club’s long-time professional, to the sweeping views across Dublin Bay and the city skyline beyond, every round carries a sense of occasion. Royal Dublin isn’t just a course to play – it’s a living chapter in the story of Irish golf.
