Salobre Golf
Set in Gran Canaria’s rugged southern hills, the Salobre Old Course has been welcoming players since 1999 and remains a cornerstone of the island’s golfing scene. Designed by Roland Fauré, it is routed through desert canyons and rocky outcrops, softened by palms and manicured fairways that make for an inviting yet strategic round.
Measuring just over 6,000 yards, the Old Course is defined less by length than by rhythm and variety. Elevated tees frame generous landing areas, but approach shots must be judged carefully into well-guarded greens. The par-three 11th is a highlight, played over a ravine to a raised green, while the short par-four 6th tempts the adventurous with a driveable target.
The putting surfaces are consistently smooth and quick, their subtle slopes demanding precise pace control. Water hazards and cleverly placed bunkers provide balance, while the routing ensures a walk rich in both challenge and scenery.
Playable for all standards yet engaging for the seasoned golfer, the Old Course blends Canarian atmosphere with thoughtful design. With mountain silhouettes behind and Atlantic views ahead, every hole feels woven into its volcanic setting.
